Nokia E61. Nokia Semantic Web Server, Nokia E!

Nokia E61: Demo interattive

If anyone has had any success connecting a Nokia E- or N-series phone to Linux as a storage device, I would be really interested to hear what you had to do (or whether you didn't have to do anything, and it just worked). Some important Nokia E61 smartphone features ndash including multimedia messaging (MMS) and mobile browsing ndash require settings before you can use them. My current phone is a Nokia N95. The E61's Qwerty thumbpad seems far more usable than the lousy Motorola Q keyboard, and the horrible Blackberry Pearl keypad. Software on the E61 includes a Office suite that allows you to view, edit, and create Word documents, Excel spreadsheets (with charts), and PowerPoint presentations. Except for the keypad and joystick on the face of the phone the only other buttons on the E61 appear on the left-hand side. Nokia's recent N-series phones, Multiline Phone but the E61 really gives it room to breathe.

I must say this device convinced me with its large keyboard, bright display and WLAN. Exactly 1 year ago Nokia announced a new Nokia Family, The Eseries devices, ringtone targeted at the Business World. All have 3G (UMTS) and WLAN with advanced voice services and mobile email applications.

There is also a slightly cut down model of the E61 for the American market dubbed the Nokia E62. The Nokia E61 looked like the best of the bunch. This program, cell phone bag should it ever materialize, motorola could well be the best hope of getting great quality video playback on the E61. The E61 is the pinnacle of the range and is a worthy contender for anyone seeking a push-email device. You should be able to use the E61 with a US GSM provider like Cingular and T-Mobile. Key features include a slim profile, full QWERTY keyboard, S60 smartphone platform, EDGE high-speed data, Bluetooth, and a miniSD card slot. Reviews, news, cell phones, accessories, software and mobile content news from NokiaLand, Finland. Works fine with the Nokia 64 MB MicroSD card, does not work with a Transcend 2 GB card on SuSE 10,2 (tried with two computers). Nokia is well known for rewarding phone owners who spend time to learn the ins and outs of their phone. A few years back, Nokia was almost to mobile phones what Hoover was to vacuum cleaners.
